Gentle vein harvesting may keep heart bypasses open longer
NCT ID NCT03501303
First seen Sep 30, 2025 · Last updated Jun 17, 2026 · Updated 36 times
Summary
This study tested whether a special 'no-touch' method of removing leg veins for heart bypass surgery helps the grafts stay open longer. About 900 people having their first bypass surgery took part. The researchers compared the no-touch technique to the usual method to see which leads to fewer blocked veins after two years.
