First seen Nov 11, 2025 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This study looks at whether people recovering from inguinal hernia repair can manage pain without opioids. About 900 adults having routine hernia surgery will either receive no opioids or a small supply (5 pills) after their operation. The goal is to see if skipping opioids leads to more requests for refills or worse pain and quality of life within 30 days.
