New eye surgery could eliminate need for gas bubble after macular hole repair

Summary
This study compares two surgeries for macular holes, a condition that can cause vision loss. The standard surgery uses a gas bubble to help the hole close, but a new technique skips the gas bubble. Researchers want to see if the new method works just as well and is safer for patients. About 180 adults with macular holes will take part.
