Summary
This study tests whether neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) can help preserve muscle mass in critically ill patients on ECMO, a type of life support. Researchers will measure changes in thigh muscle size and strength in 50 adults who receive either NMES plus standard care or standard care alone. The goal is to see if adding NMES helps patients maintain muscle during their hospital stay.
