Breathing help for fragile newborns: gas treatment tested for serious birth defect

NCT ID NCT07247240

Summary

This study is testing whether a gas called inhaled nitric oxide can help newborns with a serious birth defect where the diaphragm doesn't form properly, causing lung problems and high blood pressure in the lungs. The research will involve about 40 newborns who need breathing support but are not on the most advanced life support machine. Doctors will measure how well the babies' lungs and hearts respond to the gas treatment over short periods.
