Simple pill could shield kidneys from scan dye damage

Summary

This study is testing if taking sodium nitrate pills can prevent kidney injury in high-risk patients who need medical scans using contrast dye. It will enroll 100 patients with reduced kidney function who are scheduled for a heart angiogram or CT scan. The main goal of this pilot phase is to see if the study's logistics work, like giving the pills at the right time and collecting follow-up blood tests.
