Can a beetroot and coffee combo give cyclists an extra boost?
NCT ID NCT07501806
Summary
This study looked at whether taking beetroot juice (a source of nitrate) and caffeine together could improve high-intensity cycling performance more than taking either one alone. Fifteen trained male cyclists completed four different test sessions where they took either the combination, each supplement separately, or a placebo. Researchers measured their power output during a tough 3-minute cycling test to see which approach worked best.
