Could a nicotine patch be a new painkiller for smokers after surgery?

NCT ID NCT07250230

Summary

This study is testing if a high-dose nicotine patch can help control pain in men who smoke and are having chest surgery. The goal is to see if the patch reduces the need for strong opioid painkillers after the operation, which can have bad side effects. It's a small pilot study with 80 participants to see if this approach is worth investigating further.
