Smoking's hidden damage: how nicotine sabotages gum healing

NCT ID NCT07491627

Summary

This study aims to understand how nicotine exposure in gum tissue affects the healing response after standard non-surgical treatment for periodontitis (gum disease). It will compare treatment outcomes between 56 smokers and non-smokers with gum disease. The main goal is to measure nicotine levels in the gums and see how they relate to the success of the dental treatment.
