First seen Mar 14, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 10 times

Summary

This study explored whether how addicted a person is to nicotine affects their awareness of having gum disease. Researchers studied 350 adult smokers with gingivitis or periodontitis, using a nicotine dependence questionnaire and dental exams. The goal was to understand if higher nicotine dependence makes people less aware of their gum health, which could help improve education and treatment for smokers.
