Can a common supplement repair diabetic nerve damage?
NCT ID NCT03685253
First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 26, 2026 · Updated 19 times
Summary
This early-phase study tested whether nicotinamide riboside (a form of vitamin B3) could help people with diabetic neuropathy, a condition causing nerve damage from diabetes. Ten adults with type 2 diabetes or prediabetes took the supplement for 6 months. Researchers measured changes in nerve fiber density through skin biopsies to see if the treatment could slow or reverse nerve damage. The study was terminated early, so results are limited.
