Old drug, new hope: testing a tapeworm medicine against childhood leukemia

NCT ID NCT05188170

Summary

This is an early safety study testing a drug called niclosamide, which is normally used to treat tapeworms, in combination with a standard chemotherapy (cytarabine) for children and young adults with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) that has come back or not responded to other treatments. The main goal is to find a safe dose and see if the combination causes severe side effects. Researchers will also check if the treatment helps reduce the amount of leukemia cells in the body.
