Scientists hunt for early warning signs of deadly tumors in genetic disorder

NCT ID NCT02211768

Summary

This study aimed to find better ways to spot when benign tumors turn cancerous in people with neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1). Researchers tested a new type of scan (FLT-PET) and genetic analysis on tumor samples from a small group of participants. The goal was to learn if these tools could detect dangerous changes earlier than current methods to improve survival.
