NCT ID NCT06630910

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tested a new way to reconnect the pancreas to the intestine during Whipple surgery for certain cancers. The new method uses a stent and wraps the connection with omentum (fatty tissue) to try to prevent leaks. 48 patients were split into two groups to compare the new technique with the standard one.

Active substance

surgical procedure (pancreaticojejunostomy with stenting and omental wrapping)

What this could lead to

If successful, this new surgical technique could reduce serious complications like pancreatic fistula after Whipple surgery.

What could go wrong

This is a small, single-center study with only 48 patients. The results may not apply to all hospitals or patient groups.
