Could this new pill help millions lose weight?

Summary
This study aims to test whether a new oral medication called MDR-001, taken alongside lifestyle changes, helps adults with overweight or obesity manage their weight. About 738 Chinese adults will take either the drug or a placebo (dummy pill) for 52 weeks to see how much weight they lose and if the treatment is safe. The main goal is to see if participants can achieve significant weight reduction, specifically at least 5% of their starting body weight.
