NCT ID NCT00647166

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 11, 2026 · Updated 35 times

Summary

This study looked at whether adding azathioprine to standard corticosteroid treatment could help people with newly diagnosed microscopic polyangiitis, polyarteritis nodosa, or eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis (Churg-Strauss syndrome) who have no poor prognosis factors. The goal was to see if the combination leads to higher remission rates and fewer relapses over 24 months without causing more side effects. The study enrolled 114 adults and compared the combination therapy to corticosteroids alone.
