Mind-Body therapy trial aims to soothe distressing physical symptoms

NCT ID NCT05792930

Summary

This study is testing a new therapy that combines two approaches to help people with somatic symptom disorder, a condition where mental distress causes significant physical symptoms. Sixty participants will be randomly assigned to either receive the new therapy right away or be placed on a waiting list. The therapy blends cognitive-behavioral therapy (talk therapy) with biofeedback, which uses sensors to help people learn to control their body's stress responses.
