Blood test breakthrough could pinpoint hidden tumors

NCT ID NCT01022515

Summary

This study tested a new blood marker called EM66 to see if it could better identify rare adrenal tumors (pheochromocytoma/paraganglioma) that cause severe high blood pressure. Researchers compared EM66 levels in 60 people: some with these tumors and others with ordinary high blood pressure. The goal was to create a more accurate diagnostic tool to help doctors tell these dangerous tumors apart from common hypertension.
