Breakthrough test could spare patients painful lung biopsies for TB diagnosis
NCT ID NCT06646237
Summary
This study is testing a new, less invasive method to diagnose tuberculous pleuritis, a common form of tuberculosis that affects the lining of the lungs. Researchers will enroll 350 adults with new fluid buildup around one lung to see if a simple fluid test can accurately detect TB DNA, potentially replacing the need for a more invasive tissue biopsy. The goal is to provide a faster, more comfortable diagnosis so patients can start treatment sooner.
