Double-Layer surgery promises better fix for Mouth-Sinus leak

NCT ID NCT07196566

Summary

This study tested a new two-layer surgical technique to permanently close a hole (oroantral fistula) connecting the mouth to the sinus. Twelve patients with this condition had the procedure, where tissue from the cheek and roof of the mouth was used to create a secure patch. Doctors followed the patients for three months to check if the hole stayed closed and to monitor healing, pain, and swelling.
