One surgery instead of two? new stroke procedure could eliminate second operation

NCT ID NCT07195786

Summary

This study compares two brain surgery techniques for treating dangerous swelling after a major stroke. The standard surgery requires removing part of the skull, then a second surgery months later to replace it. The new technique temporarily lifts the skull bone instead of removing it, potentially avoiding that second operation. Researchers want to see if the new method works as well as the standard one for preventing death and disability.
