Surgeons test 'Stomach Wrap' to lock in weight loss and stop heartburn
NCT ID NCT04834635
Summary
This study tested a new surgical technique for people with severe obesity. During a common weight loss surgery, surgeons wrapped part of the stomach with the patient's own tissue instead of using an artificial band. The goal was to see if this 'FundoRing' technique helped patients keep weight off long-term and prevented bile reflux and severe heartburn after surgery. Researchers compared 1,000 patients who received either the new wrap technique or the standard surgery.
