New liver procedure aims to sidestep debilitating brain fog
NCT ID NCT07349654
Summary
This study is testing a new way of placing a stent during a common liver procedure called TIPS. The goal is to see if starting with a smaller stent opening can reduce the risk of post-surgery brain complications (hepatic encephalopathy), which often cause confusion and memory problems. Researchers will compare this new technique to the standard method in 72 patients with advanced liver disease, checking if it still effectively controls bleeding and fluid buildup.
