New skin test could spot hidden TB in arthritis patients before risky treatments

NCT ID NCT06796647

First seen Sep 30, 2025 · Last updated May 02, 2026 · Updated 33 times

Summary

This study looks at a new skin test (C-TST) to find hidden tuberculosis (TB) in people with rheumatic diseases like arthritis. About 100 adults who are about to start strong medications (biologics) will get both the standard TB skin test and the new one on different arms. The goal is to see if the new test is better at detecting latent TB, so patients can get treated before starting drugs that might weaken their immune system.
