Blood test score could spot hidden Hormone-Making tumors
NCT ID NCT07352527
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study aims to create a new diagnostic score to better identify adrenal adenomas that produce moderate amounts of cortisol, a condition called MACS. Researchers will measure 19 steroid hormones in the blood and combine them with simple clinical factors like BMI, blood sugar, and blood pressure. The goal is to improve diagnosis for 291 patients with adrenal nodules, potentially reducing unnecessary surgeries or missed cases.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could provide a more accurate, non-invasive diagnostic tool for identifying adrenal adenomas that produce moderate cortisol, helping doctors decide on treatment.
- What could go wrong
- This is an early-stage study to develop a prediction model, not a treatment trial. The score may not prove accurate enough in broader practice, and results are based on a single hospital's patients.
