Could a simple scan replace scopes for liver patients?

NCT ID NCT07151885

Summary

This study is testing a new, non-invasive ultrasound method to find dangerous swollen veins in the stomach and esophagus of people with liver cirrhosis. Researchers want to see if this scan, combined with a liver stiffness test and a blood platelet count, can accurately identify high-risk veins without needing an invasive scope. The goal is to create a safer, easier way to screen for this serious complication.
