New approach aims to shrink rectal tumors before surgery, potentially avoiding immediate operation
NCT ID NCT07474103
Summary
This study is testing a comprehensive treatment approach for people with high-risk rectal cancer that hasn't spread to distant organs. All participants will receive one week of radiation followed by six cycles of combined chemotherapy and immunotherapy before surgery. The goal is to shrink tumors effectively enough that some patients might avoid immediate surgery and instead enter close monitoring.
