Shorter, stronger treatment tested in fight against rectal cancer

NCT ID NCT05673772

Summary

This study is testing a new treatment plan for rectal cancer that hasn't spread to distant organs. It compares a shorter course of radiation followed by four cycles of chemotherapy (FOLFOX) against the standard longer chemoradiation, both given before surgery. The goal is to see if the new approach improves survival by treating hidden cancer cells earlier. All patients will have surgery after their pre-surgery treatment.
