Surgical stitch change aims to stop dangerous leaks after rectal cancer surgery

NCT ID NCT07376980

Summary

This study is testing whether a modified surgical stitching method is safer than the current standard technique for patients having minimally invasive rectal cancer surgery. Researchers want to see if the new method reduces the risk of dangerous leaks where the bowel is reconnected, which can lead to serious infections and longer recovery. The trial will compare the two techniques in 450 adult patients across multiple hospitals in South Korea.
