Shorter, stronger radiation blitz aims to wipe out tumors before surgery

NCT ID NCT06078709

Summary

This study is testing a new pre-surgery treatment plan for early to mid-stage esophageal cancer. It combines a shorter, more intense 3-week radiation schedule with a specific chemotherapy regimen (FOLFOX) to try to kill more cancer cells and potentially have fewer side effects. The main goal is to see if this approach is at least as good as standard treatments at completely eliminating the tumor by the time of surgery.
