New hope for veterans haunted by war: study tests specialized PTSD therapy

NCT ID NCT03764033

Summary

This study tested a new therapy called Impact of Killing (IOK) for veterans with PTSD related to moral injury—the deep emotional and psychological distress from actions in war that violate one's moral beliefs. It compared IOK to a standard supportive therapy to see if it better improved veterans' daily functioning and reduced PTSD symptoms. The goal was to provide a helpful next step for veterans who still struggle after completing standard PTSD treatments.
