First-in-Human trial tests advanced proton beams to fight tough abdominal tumors

NCT ID NCT06327477

Summary

This study is testing a new, targeted form of proton radiation therapy for people newly diagnosed with a rare abdominal cancer called retroperitoneal sarcoma. The goal is to see if this new technique, which aims to deliver higher radiation doses directly to the tumor while sparing nearby healthy organs, is safe and effective when given before standard radiation and surgery. Researchers will enroll about 28 patients to find the best dose and see if it helps shrink or eliminate the tumor.
