Breakthrough socket design aims to end discomfort for amputees

NCT ID NCT05662982

Summary

This study tested a new prosthetic socket design for people with above-knee amputations who have limited mobility. Researchers wanted to see if this new 'subischial' socket, which doesn't press against the pelvis, is more comfortable than the standard socket, especially when sitting. They measured whether the new design helped people wear their prosthesis longer, move around more easily, and feel better about their device and daily life.
