New biopsy method aims to stop unnecessary prostate cancer diagnoses

NCT ID NCT07296042

Summary

This study is testing a new way to perform prostate biopsies that could improve cancer detection. Researchers want to see if taking samples closer to suspicious areas seen on MRI scans (called 'regional biopsies') works better than the current standard method. The goal is to better identify cancers that need treatment while reducing the diagnosis of harmless, slow-growing cancers that often don't require immediate intervention.
