Breakthrough blood test aims to pinpoint elusive bleeding disorders
NCT ID NCT01957345
Summary
This study tested a new laboratory method to improve the diagnosis of rare, inherited platelet disorders that cause bleeding problems. Researchers enrolled 322 patients with various bleeding conditions to see if a faster test using a small blood sample could reliably identify hard-to-diagnose signaling defects inside platelets. The goal was to standardize this new approach across multiple hospital labs to help doctors find the cause of unexplained bleeding more quickly.
