New scan aims to find hidden tumors causing bone weakness

NCT ID NCT07366099

Summary

This study is testing a new type of PET/CT scan to see if it can better find the small, hard-to-locate tumors that cause a rare bone-softening disease called tumor-induced osteomalacia (TIO). The main treatment for TIO is surgery to remove these tumors, so finding them precisely is crucial. Researchers will compare the new scan, called Al18F-NOTA-LM3 PET/CT, directly against the current standard scan in the same group of patients.
