Doctors craft new tool to hear the silent cries of the tiniest babies
NCT ID NCT07481331
Summary
This study aims to create a new scale specifically designed to assess pain and discomfort in extremely premature infants born before 27 weeks of pregnancy. Researchers will observe 68 babies in a neonatal intensive care unit to develop and test this new tool, called EDEX, because current pain scales may not accurately capture the subtle signs these fragile infants show. The goal is to improve pain assessment, which could lead to better care, but this study itself does not provide treatment.
