New pill aims to beat opioids for surgery pain

NCT ID NCT07219888

Summary

This study is testing if a new oral medication called suzetrigine works as well as or better than the standard opioid oxycodone for pain after knee replacement surgery. Researchers want to see if suzetrigine can control pain effectively while reducing the total amount of opioid medication patients need. About 140 adults having knee replacement for arthritis will be randomly assigned to receive either suzetrigine or oxycodone and track their pain and medication use for 14 days.
