New pill aims to crush rib fracture pain, cut opioid use

NCT ID NCT07145346

Summary

This study is testing if adding a new FDA-approved, non-opioid pain pill called suzetrigine to standard pain care works better for adults with multiple broken ribs. Researchers want to see if it improves pain control and helps patients use fewer opioid painkillers, which can be addictive. The trial will involve 80 adult patients who have suffered blunt trauma and have at least three broken ribs.
