New drug aims to slash pain pills after foot surgery

NCT ID NCT03295721

Summary

This study tested a new pain medicine called HTX-011, which is applied directly to the surgical site during bunion surgery. The goal was to see if it could reduce pain better than a placebo (saltwater injection) or a standard local anesthetic, and if it could help patients use fewer opioid painkillers after their operation. It involved 412 adults having a specific type of bunion surgery.
