New scan aims to spot ovarian issues, reduce unnecessary surgeries

NCT ID NCT04178018

Summary

This study is testing a new imaging technique that combines ultrasound with light (photoacoustic imaging) to get a better picture of ovarian masses. The goal is to see if this method can help doctors more accurately tell which masses are cancerous and which are benign, potentially reducing the number of surgeries for non-cancerous conditions. The study will enroll women who are scheduled for ovary removal surgery or who are at high genetic risk for ovarian cancer.
