New 'Limpet' device aims to drastically cut ostomy skin problems and leaks
NCT ID NCT06524401
Summary
This study is testing a new single-use device called the Limpet to see if it is better than standard ostomy pouches at preventing skin irritation and leaks around surgical openings in the bowel. About 92 adults who have had an ileostomy or have an enterocutaneous fistula will use either the Limpet or a standard pouch for 30 days, with weekly check-ups. Researchers hope the Limpet will significantly reduce complications and improve patients' quality of life.
