Targeted shot before heart surgery could slash opioid need

NCT ID NCT07315308

Summary

This study is testing if a targeted numbing injection, given before heart surgery, can reduce the amount of strong opioid painkillers needed during the operation. Researchers will compare 80 adults getting the injection plus standard anesthesia to those getting standard anesthesia alone. The goal is to control pain with fewer opioids, which may help patients wake up from anesthesia faster and experience fewer side effects like nausea.
