Could hidden blood vessel damage be the first sign of lung trouble in cystic fibrosis?

NCT ID NCT04467957

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Apr 25, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study uses a new, contrast-free MRI technique to measure blood flow in the lungs of 26 children with cystic fibrosis (ages 6-21). Researchers want to see if blood vessel damage happens before or alongside the more commonly measured airway damage. The goal is to better understand how cystic fibrosis affects the lungs over time, which could lead to earlier detection and new treatments.
