New cream challenges gold standard for skin discoloration

NCT ID NCT05119413

Summary

This study tested if a new skin cream could work as well as the current best treatment for melasma, a condition that causes dark patches on the skin. The new cream replaces a key ingredient (hydroquinone) that can cause side effects with a potentially safer alternative (thiamidol). Forty adults with melasma participated in this blinded study to see which cream was more effective and better tolerated.
