New breast scanner could spot cancer more clearly

NCT ID NCT05659797

First seen Feb 28, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 12 times

Summary

This early-phase study tests a new imaging device that combines a special PET scan with 3D mammography to get a clearer picture of estrogen-receptor-positive breast cancer. About 20 adults with newly diagnosed breast cancer will receive an injection of a radioactive tracer that binds to estrogen receptors, then undergo imaging. The goal is to see if this method can better measure the size and extent of the tumor compared to standard imaging. This is an observational study only; results will not guide treatment decisions.
