New light imaging could replace skin pinch test for scleroderma

Summary
This study tests a new, non-invasive imaging method called spatial frequency domain imaging (SFDI) to measure skin thickness in people with scleroderma, an autoimmune disease that causes skin hardening. Researchers will compare SFDI with current methods like skin pinching, ultrasound, and biopsies over 3 years. The goal is to see if SFDI can provide a faster, more accurate way to track disease changes. About 78 participants, including healthy controls, will be enrolled at Boston University.
