Scientists test 'Bone Glue' and drug combo to fortify fragile hip repairs

NCT ID NCT06135298

Summary

This study tested a new approach to improve healing after hip fracture surgery in older adults with osteoporosis. Researchers wanted to see if injecting a special bone-graft material around the surgical implant, combined with a standard osteoporosis drug, could help build new, stronger bone to support the repair. The study involved 20 patients who were already scheduled for hip fracture surgery to compare the new method against standard surgery.
