Nerve-Sparing surgery trial aims to reduce side effects for acid reflux patients

NCT ID NCT07252115

Summary

This study is comparing two different surgical techniques for people with a hiatal hernia and severe acid reflux (GERD) that doesn't improve with medication. The goal is to see if a newer 'left-side' approach, which aims to protect a key nerve, leads to better quality of life and fewer complications like difficulty swallowing or gallstones compared to the traditional surgery. Researchers will enroll 143 adults to see which method works better long-term.
