Double-Duty cancer attack: new combo therapy aims to wipe out tumors before surgery

NCT ID NCT04028167

Summary

This study is testing a new, two-step treatment plan for people with a type of esophageal cancer that can be removed by surgery. First, patients receive a strong course of chemotherapy (called FLOT). Then, they get a standard course of chemotherapy combined with radiation. The goal is to shrink the tumor as much as possible and kill any hidden cancer cells before surgery, hoping to lower the chance of the cancer coming back later.
